Hi does anybody tow with the Isuzu bighorn? How do they tow? My new van was too heavy for the Octavia 1450kg so I'm hopeing this will do the job. Think I got a good deal too paid £3250 on a n plate 38k miles and 1 owner mint condition alloys bull bar ect.  Not sure how to post picks but will put into profile..

Hi, I used an old long wheel base Shogun 2.5 td for several years until it passed away  and i towed everything from my Audi 90 saloon rod on a car trailer to a caravan on a car trailer that i collected for a friend and i can honestly say the scariest part i found was you would forget you had anything behind you as you never noticed any change in performance and the economy never changed. If yours is a long wheel base it will pull it a treat!

Happy Holidays!

Hiya

The 'Big Horn' Will probably pull anything that's out there. At 3.1 litres it should do! However I hope you have deep pockets as 5 miles to the litre will be an average return towing.

As to whether it's a good price depends if it's a price you are happy with. I certainly wouldn't have paid that. The most important thing to look out for is the N/S suspension hanger followed by a noisey transfer box.

Well I have looked around for a couple of weeks and seen them go for 5k plus so I'm really happy with the price plus where we live 4x4 do hold there price (mid wales faems ect). Yes I expect to get around 25mpg less when towing.

We've towed  with a Bighorn for the last three years without any problems at all.  As you correctly said the fuel consumption is less than 25 mpg when towing.  We tow a Lunar Delta 520/2 and previously a Lunar Venus.

From your initial post I felt that you were unaware that it is a grey import vehicle and logically someone in Japan owned it for a number of years - consequently it's impossible to know if the mileage is genuine or the number of previous owners.  For as long as it's in good condition and you are happy with it then it doesn't matter anyway.  We've had ours for three years and love it - it's also an N reg.  The mileage (which is in Kms) was 92,000 (about 57,000 miles).  At 100,000 kms the timing belt light came on, as it should.  A friend who has had 7 Isuzus and also has a garage did the job and in his opinion the mileage was genuine.  You may have a good one there.

BOth the trooper and monterey we had the engines rebuilt. both were using oil.  The monterey had a hole in one of the piston liners the size of a 50p.

We must be just unlucky but still like the car.

Will keep an eye on the oil then? It's only done 60km but will still keep an eye on it.
