Don't know kerb weight of the 306 Caz, so I may be wrong on that score. I towed the Whirlwind (1100kg MPTLM) with a VW Golf 1.9 TDI The max. trailer weight was 1200kg and nose weight 50kg. BHP was 90.
I admit it was fiddly to get down to the 50kg nose weight, and I did settle at 70kg (there is a good safety factor applied to manufacturer's spec).
The car towed without problems, even in windy conditions. This was the first time I went back to towing after more than eight years on motorhomes.
But I agree, if in doubt, err on the safe side.
Bertie.
