Its more the height of the neck that is a problem and that can't be fixed with spacers as it could be if it was the horizontal distance that was critical

Designed for use with AL-KO AKS range of Stabilisers. Bolt-on type 50 mm flange towball with extended machined neck to allow correct stabiliser articulation and clearances.
Note: All paint must be removed from the ball BEFORE use - please read operating instructions contained with towball kit.

Spacers are no good for the horizontal spacing - the ball is still too close to the fixing plate, even if you use spacers.  An Alko ball has a longer neck at the hitch sits lower on the ball than a standard hitch, and the ball is further from the fixing plate.  But you should be fine with a removable ball - they tend to have longer necks anyway.  Just make sure it's grease-free.

Thanks Scampi that was the point I was trying to make in response to Milliesdad

You need the clearance horizontally and that could be achieved with spacers but the point I was trying to get across was that that  would not solve  the extended neck problem

The removeable ball would have to be the Alko unless you mean the detachable type
