First, there is no clutch on a fully automatic car. But it is sometimes necessary to have an oil cooler fitted for the automatic gearbox.
The car handbook should give full advice on the requirements, and the trailer weight, etc.
I know several people who tow with an automatic, and would not change. Generally, an automatic uses a bit more fuel than a manual-change gearbox.
If he is not buying from a Vauxhall dealership, get him to have the car held on the proviso that its towing ability suits his caravan. Be prepared for the cost of having an oil cooler fitted. Sorry, but have no idea of cost.
Bertie.
