Has anyone got the new style RAV4 for towing. I have got one and have to take my van in for its annual service on Sunday. I am now wondering if the Alko hitch will clear the spare wheel.

Anyone have any ideas

Cheers

Why should anyone buy a Rav4 for towing?

It was a question, George, not a comment.

I don't dispute for a second that a RAV4 has lots of virtues.  Maybe I misunderstood your question but you seemed to be asking about RAV4s bought specifically for towing.

No Andrew and unreserved apologies if I have misunderstood.

I bought my RAV4 last year but due to moving house and all the grief that came with that I didn,t manage to get away with the van.

I am now champing at the bit and organised a service for next week. I forgot to check though when I was up at the caravan storage last time if the Alko hitch lever would foul my spare wheel. That was why I thought I might ask if any one had a new one. Doesn't seem popular thought LOL.

Cheers

If it does, you could solve the problem with one of these:  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product.asp?p=10701

AndrewK,

Yes mate thats the one - Towsure are expensive though they charge £4.90 on top of that while you can get direct from Alko for £28.50 including postage and that seems expensive to me for what it is. I hope I don't need it as it doesn't stay on and I have a history of losing things that are not attached.

Many thanks for your efforts

George Mc

Collected my van on Sunday to take it for a service and the Alko hitch caused me no problem. I hadn't realised just how far the tow bar comes out from the back. Anyway the upshot is I wont need to buy an attachment. It was only 13 miles to the Caravan Service Centre but the car is going to be a brilliant tower - really chuffed.
