help is needed due to health reasons i now need to purchase an automatic car which is capable of towing my 1100kg van. I currently tow with a 1.8 mondeo and was wondering if anyone can give some advice on a fairly cheap auto maybe upto £1500.

I have a seen a few 2l auto vectra's but not much else apart from volvo's, bmw's, merc's and 4x4 all of which i believe will costly on servicing, parts and fuel.

any help would be great.

I would go with a diesel auto as autos tent to be less economic than a geared car especially when towing you would have to be carefull when chooseing your car with a budget of 1500 lots of old taxis out there especially mondeos and vectras, having said that the mondeo diesels have a good write up and would be a safe bet, also you could look at vw passats,i have just got a 2004 auto astra (new shape) but spent a long time on the computor finding the right car,you can sometimes get a bargain from some maindealer part exchanges, its well worth some phone calls to dealers they will take the details of what you are looking for and call you when something becomes available, hope this has helped looking for a car can be a knightmare good luck!
