Hi all,

Looking to upgrade our tent to an Outdoor Revolution PC Kalahari 9.0 DSE.

It's a pretty big tent and the two side annexes make it 7.35m wide and 8.05m long.

Does anyone have experience with this tent or tents similar size that can advise on how easy/difficult it is to find sites with big enough pitches.

Two adults will be regularly camping with 6 children (2 our own and our nieces/nephew who come with us) so we're also looking at getting a 6x4 box trailer to store and transport the tent and equipment- I assume we are we going to struggle even more to find a pitch that can hold the tent and trailer?

Our Outwell Woodlake 7atc is 8mtrs long 5mtrs wide. We always go for a super pitch minimum size of 10mtrs square. We tent to go to bigger sites that have bigger pitches and sites we know and always try to get the same pitches.
The site we use in Cornwall the pitch is 10mtrs wide 17mtrs long. It' a massive pitch.
Some smaller sites you may struggle with as you need to take into account guy ropes and and space to park your car/trailer.etc.
Never struggle to fit it all on a pitch as long as you think about where you pitch the tent and put the trailer, the car we have squeezed Into a narrow spot beside the tent before now. Not ideal but made it work.
If you are going for a trailer my advice would.be put the tent in the boot of the car and all the other kit in the trailer that way you don't need to unload everything from the trailer to get to the tent and if it's raining it all stays dry why you get the tent up as all you need to do is open the boot up and you have easy access to the tent!

Welcome to UKCS!

Camping and Caravanning Club (C&CC) has site search filters for tents and also larger grass pitches with or without EHU for tents.

UKCS's Site Search facility does not have an option to search for grass pitches for larger tents unfortunately.

Based on my own experience, Birchwood Tourist Park, near Wareham, Dorset where I go nearly every year has jumbo grass pitches for larger tents.

Wow that's a big tent, our tent in 8x 4.5 (10+ x 4.5 with the tarp on the front) and I always check with the site or as above book a extra large pitch

When we camped with a big cotton Cabanon Pyramide, we used a roof box for all the soft stuff. The dog went in her crate in half of the estate car boot.
As for pitch size, based on memory & what I see on sites, grass pitches may not be a specific size if you’re not needing EHU. (Undefined areas can mean others get too close - we came back to our tent once to find a family pitched so close that their guys crossed ours.)
