Looking to go away for 4 weeks in a Berghaus 400 4 berth air tent to The Inverness area. Went through the booking system to book for just me and the wife only for the online system to ask how many berths the tent is and looking for an extra £42. Needless to say booking scrapped. Not the biggest tent living area and one big bedroom.
There are so many ways we are being fleeced these days (paying for showers anyone)if your booking Inverness area watch out for this and let’s hope it doesn’t become commonplace, enough if enough.

That can be looked at two ways, they are trying to determine the size of the tent and matching pitch size, or it's a lazy flawed way of 'head counting'!

Some sites certainly do find every way possible of raising the tariff! Caveat Emptor now reaching a humble plot of grass for a tent!

I'd be pretty miffed, I've got a 5 berth tent for just me and the dog!

i would just remove/not ut up the extra bedrooms, so n a 4 berth tent you would normally get 2 two person pods or on a 5 you get a triple and a double,

Welcome to UKCS.
There are a number of sites around Inverness (as you’ll know from the Site Search), it would be unfortunate to tar them all with the same brush, I think. I go up there every few years, but in a MH (asked for length only sometimes, plus number of people / pets).
UKCS Reviews of the site in question might help you too: someone may have commented about the booking system and reviews would say if the showers cost anything; last site I paid at was a CL with a charity donation box, otherwise I’ve not needed coins for years. Went out with Covid.
I hope you find your perfect site near Inverness & have a great holiday.

Considering our tiny motorbike tent was marketed as a 4 berth, but is realistically a 2 person with enough room to lie with your arms by your sides and a small bag, I'd seriously begrudge paying extra for it! That being said, our Ascension is a 4 berth and it's HUGE so I guess it's swings and roundabouts

I've just been mulling over the cost of camping myself.   As an impoverished student I used to love being able to go regularly but I couldn't afford to do it on the same scale these days.

One big bedroom? Say it's a 2-berth.

I’m not sure we’ll see the OP back after their first post a month ago (I’m still wondering which site it was, knowing several up there), but hopefully the comments will help others in the same situation.
