When checking my camping gear I discovered an unused squeezy tube of condensed milk left over from last year.
Now, I remember someone on here posting about how good they were to have (maybe talking about retro food) and citing exciting gourmet desserts using said tube. But - I can't remember what.
Can anyone explain why I need to have a tube of condensed milk in my camp kitchen cupboard and how to use it?
Quick banoffee sauce (if boiled)?
And what else do you do with condensed milk anyway, squeezy or otherwise?

Indeed, on fresh bread that is really soft, one of my favourite comfort food.

I carry a tube so that I can make a hot and sweet milky drink just by adding water to it, if and when I feel like having a change from hot Ribena when camping in the colder months.
At home, I use it as one of the key ingredient for a no cook cheesecake.

Ooooohhhhhhh not sure I'm grateful for the serving suggestions or not...
I don't take sugar in coffee, and on bread reminds me too much of my childhood: golden syrup sandwiches and god forbid sugar sandwiches (parents of the war generation) and why I have a mouth full of either mercury amalgam (so no surprise my temper goes up and down) and composite plastics.
I'm still thinking toffee sauce but why not BUY toffee sauce?
Only things I've ever used it for are: coconut ice sweets, peppermint creams, banoffee pie, lite version (US recipe hence misspelling) with lime jelly in Halloween hand-mould. That's it. Finis. But I do love Dulce de Leche so the banoffee boiling the tin for three hours is fine by me.
BTW - retro food: you can still buy SPAM - did you not see the supplement in the latest Camping mag?
Going slightly off topic, but I can as it's my thread, how about Cremola Foam folks, potted meat or savoury pancakes?

Slice them and pan-fry until crispy, dunk in chilli mayo, yum yum!
Another one of my comfort foods.
I love sugar sandwich, and salt and pepper sandwich too!

I used to make fudge and used in in that - only reason I stopped making fudge was the tendency to eat the stuff when it was still warm.
Conny onny sarnies - haven't had one for years. I should imagine that these days I would find them too sweet.

I don't take milk or sugar in coffee and don't have EHU to keep milk fresh. So the only time I ever want milk and sugar when camping is to make porridge good and tasty so I replace my usual splash of milk and spoon of sugar with a spoonful of condensed milk.
I make rice pudding, packet of fast rice (Tilda part cooked, for microwave) boil it up, add condensed milk and some spices and chopped nuts heat until you cant wait anymore.
