Hi Frankie, just looked at your profile, and I have the exact same table as you. Its a solid piece, I was gonna trade it in for one of those trendy slatted roll-up things that seem to be the rage at the mo, but sha'nt now. (I will save the money and spend it on my holiday on something fun)

What about inflatable sofa, I Pod and integral speakers, 15inch flat-screen tele and DVD player, spare poles and repair kit, gazebo, and a fitted tow-bar plus trailer to put all the stuff in. Hi I am new here but I felt I needed to chip in, I have made two new purchases this year to add to my ever growing camping mountain of gear which includes a kitchen stand, two burner and grill campingaz chef, double height queen size airbed, roll up slatted table, wardrobe/shelves (collapsable and easy to put up), electric hook up, fridge, gas heater, king size super dooper sleeping bag and the list goes on and on.
These two new essentials are:
1. Mobil loo from Lidl, £29.99 incl starter pack of chemicals. Best purchase to date, I get up at least twice in the night for the loo and more if I have had a beer and the loo has made my camping experience less stressful shall we say.
2. 5 in 1 inflatable wonderbed/sofa. I purchased it based on the threads I read on here and ordered it from www.alt-gifts.co.uk. It is the best, we WERE carrying in the car four bulky collapsible chairs which on occasions have been on peoples laps, this is a three seater inflatable sofa that easily rolls back into its bag and will take up hardly any room in the trailer. Had our first trial weekend about 4 weeks ago with some friends who took their tent and roof box etc. Thought I was clever and had all bases covered Table ,chairs ,lamp single burner cooker for tea etc. Since returning home been out to buy twin burner/grill cooker on legs, 3 tier shelf unit still to buy some sort of storage for clothes the wardrobes look great but the size worries me any advice greatly recieved.

We managed with a cool-box and ice packs for two weeks last summer without any problems or even feeling deprived. The OH won't even hear of electricity at this stage in our camping career so we'll be doing the same this summer (if there ever is one). I quite like the way our camping equipment is just gradually accumulating over time, although we'll see what gradualises on the big trip to the camping shop this weekend.

No, you don't NEED them. Of all the things you've listed here I have only the ground sheet, pump and lamp - and I love my camping. While everyone else is spending time unpacking, sorting and setting up I'm already on the beach. Then I enjoy the whole of my last day while the clutter bunch are spending a couple of hours packing up. Finally, when I get home I've sorted and put away the kit in half an hour. I think many folk on this site have two hobbies really, camping & shopping.

i have all of those bar the roof box......takes me 5 minutes when i get home as all of that is packed into 3 bags....i know where everything is for next time and only takes a few minutes to load the car and i'm off...
We have all the above plus a little more, takes about 5 minutes to un hitch the trailer and put back in the garage
I have finished my purchases for now, so far this year I've had
Electric cool box, Electric hook up thing, electric light, 3 pinic rugs, first aid box, kitchen stand, Delta pegs, pump, oh and a new tent!!!!
I think all my purchases have been good ones and the products should hopefully last me for yeas to come. I now I have to wait until the August Bank Holiday to try them all out!!!! really excited!!
What I take is determined by how long we are away for,just because we prefer the freedom the tent gives us,certainly does not mean that we should treat our holiday as a survival exercise.every Item of our gear is packed in strong see through boxes,We take 5 on every trip plus 1 for when we have a hook up, and one if I am using gas for cooling and 12volt for power.As we are getting on a bit,it can take us up to 4 hours to completely set up,but at least 1 hour of that is taking brakes,You see we have learned through necessity to take things easy,and as we no longer need to go for 2 or 3 day trips we take all we consider necessary to make our stay as comfortable as possible.and all we take fills our trailer and car.
So we consider this is what we say is necessary for us to enjoy our camping,we do not use a full sized carpet in the tent but we have got two small carpet runners and three warm rugs.
Yes it can be quite a shock to some people when they come into our tent,but this is what we want and enjoy, so don't be put off take what ever makes camping that little bit more comfortable for your family, The Idea of camping is to take you out into the country side and the reason we use tents,is that a lot of site that we like do not accept caravans and as for motor homes we could not afford one with a pertinent bedroom and we like the freedom the car gives us.
So Do not think, is it necessary, if you see something you would like for camping, If you have the room to take it Get it

You'll need more than one windbreak. Then a couple of the Coleman Moon Chairs and a Trailer, oh! and a tow bar on OH's car. Damm! I've just given away my weeks purchases.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
