err you can wash the tent with what you like if its nylon its CANVAS tents you cannot use soaps and stuff on, as nylon tents have a rubber backing inside thats the water proofing..
ps we put ours through the washer and its smells all nice and looks brand new and don`t leak.

Errr...we washed our non-canvas nylon tent with diluted washing up liquid a few years ago to get bird poo and dog pee off it....and the rainproofing was rendered totally ineffective....hence the Fabsil...

Whatever you do DON'T use soap or detergents or any cloth or sponge that has previously been near any soap or detergent. If you do try to wash it off, use a new cloth.
just before i read this i had put a tiny drop of washing up stuff in the water that i rinsed out my tent top cover in ( the little bag that goes on top of the 'spider' when you pack it away... not the entitre fly sheet!!! ). It got a bit grubby when it blew away and landed in the cooking stuff :( I knew i shouldn't but i did <IMG onmousedown=travesmilie(this.src); alt=15 src="https://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/traurig/sad-smiley-066.gif" width=15>. now i'll have to rinse it again... again ....
my friend left her tent at glasto.. along with her 'stuff'''. She hopes it will be put to good use.

i know someone that worked at glasto this year and was allowed to take home atent that had been left. he got a 10 man tunnel tent. so not all tents will be given to good use
Post-Glastonbury we used water and a j-cloth to wipe ours down. My sister hosed hers. But we got off far lighter than some and were still camped amidst grass at the end.
