Bernie. Yep they are. They are now in Derwent Street, quite a big shop, have a wide variety of gear. Their knowledge is great and are happy to send time explaining which is great, as some places we have been to, just want to sell rather than give advice.
Yet another vote here for United British Caravans in Sandy Lane. Almost everything considerably cheaper than other places. However, for my collapsible bin I just got a 'garden' one from Tesco - a pack of 2 was really cheap.

Hehehe we have just came back too - had to have a free burger and drink but resisted having a go on the bouncy castle lol :)
And Oooh we were so tempted but resisted buying another too but did buy a new kettle, gas, new inflater thingy and oh and a new wine glass for me self :)
It was so packed we had to park over the road at the tyre place.
I got my tent there earlier in the year and saved over £100 its also the cheapest place I have found for gas. I went to the one at Catterick too and came home empty handed.
Well thanks for the tip off UBC was brilliant and to be fair we felt we wasted our time at Catterick as UBC was superior. Anyway thanks very much and by the way as the tent we fancied was not at any site we got an idea of what we liked and have ordered today - Khyam Ontario 8.
I put on a similar post about 3 months back and everyone recommended UBC (which we have paid a fair few visits to since) I always shop around and have a good search on net before I buy but usually find UBC beat everyone else by miles! Only thing that I could complain about is they didn't have the tents that I liked (Outwell, Khyam and Vango) Reckon if they sold them too they would be even more popular! . Enjoy your new tent.
I agree with your view on tents they all seemed to be the same brand... sun valley or something like that. I did a search for shops up where we live but found nothing... must be my search skills!!
Hi, yes i was at the United British Caravans of Sandy Lane in Wideopen on saurday, great selection, second time we have purchased a tent for there, free burger and pop all round, we went for a suncamp ventura, £135.00 on ebay they are selling at £160.00 so i guess we got a bargain, walk in type, as we are getting on a bit, well very early 40's, so no much aching backs from ducking under canvas roof. well that is the plan, we are planning going to great yarmouth at the weekend, we hey to camping, you cannot beat it. good luck with buying a tent.
Going for a wander round Camping shops today, as need a few things for next weekend, well dont actually 'need' them, but you know what its like, lol. Going to try the United British Caravan place in wideopen, but its chucking it down today, are the tents and stuff inside? I know I sound daft, but just checking, lol.
Was at Outdoors Superstore in Shiremoor yesterday as they have a sale on at the moment. They have about 8 - 10 tents set up and they are reasonably priced but there is also a lot of outrageously priced stuff there as well.
Probably worth a look as it is hoying it down outside !!!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
