Saw what could have been a fatal accident on a hilly campsite in Wales about 30 years ago .A couple had just put up there tent and were walking away from it, when a car driver lost his brakes while coming down the slope, he lay on his horn and zig zaged towards the couple, who jumped out of the cars path ,the car went straight through a near by tent which was unoccupied and into a dry brick wall, could have been worse ,anyone in that tent would have been killed.

Two on our recent trip to the Lakes, neither to us, fortunately. One a fire, I think it was a stove that exploded - I didnt get involved but overheard that someone tried to refill a petrol stove while it was still hot and it went up... Amazingly, nobody hurt. Two days later a mini-tornado took two tents out vertically within about 20 seconds, all at once in a big bang, then they crashed back down. The tents were pitched amid campfires but managed to miss all of the them and the only real damage was a badly bent pole.

Well im wondering how meny of you have had accidents and what it was during camping, Me and my mates went to a campsite where we could have a campfire.Everything was great fire roaring ,food sizzling , booze flowing and then we noticed that ohno no wood left.Out came the axe (which my mate took off me) as he started chopping wood after a large bottle of vodka i heard damn i cut myself.
After looking it wasnt a cut it was a horrific wound, he almost cut his thumb off could see right to the bone.No one could drive and we was out in the middle of nowhere.Out came the first aid kit .I knew a woman should av done it lol
bandaged it and banned him off the booze...A + E bright and early.to which he was straight into theatre for operation and 12weeks off work lol
Now the axe is also banned from camping trips lol

If the answer may offend you then dont ask the question in the first place !!
Hammering in the outwell blue plastic pegs and somehow it bounced out turned pointy end up as i brought my hand down again the peg went into the palm of my hand.Blood was a plenty and the only other people near by were an old'ish couple. They came over saw my hand and i spent the next half hour making sure the woman was ok as she turned a nice white colour lol
Hand healed fine after a good regular cleans using a antisceptic type hand wash our lass always packs, can't be to careful outside with even the smallest wounds.A quick wipe and the peg was fine to.
My daught was running to see us when she was about three and she fell on a tent peg...it cut her forehead badly and she still has the scar now...could have been her eye though...she was damn lucky
I am so glad I spent that £10 at Tesco's on the fire extinguisher!!!! (hope I wont ever need to use it though as dont plan on doing anything with axes, cooking or general firey things when drunk though) LOL
