I'd agree with the code of conduct. I think we all look out for each other..
I went away once in March with my lil Sister - heavy rain and wind - went for a walk - came back and some nice people had left us a windbreak by the tent.
Sorry for hijacking the thread! Back to trailers....
If you take all the advice here Samwelly you can't go wrong.
The only problem Ive found with a trailer, is that you always fill it. You think you have loads of room, so you buy a bit more gear, then I purchased the extra sides you can get, so again you buy a bit more, or better gear. Back to Square one now, not enough space. Daughters driving now, so Ive got another car to fill. Very sad I know.
We have a Saab 2.2 TDI and our fuel economy is very similar with and without the trailer, we drop a couple of MPG with the trailer but drop more with a roofbox (usually 4/5 MGP).
We drive slower with the trailer which I think balances the extra weight. We do have a good trailer with 13in wheels and a well powered car that produces loads of torque. I guess with the OH's Fiesta it would have more of an effect?
I normally get about 49mpg with my Diesel Megane, to and from work, but I find because your restricted to a max speed of 60mph, and seem to go through the gears smoother, (not in a rush all the time) I got up to 56mpg, with the trailer, roof box, and a loaded car...so i was well chuffed.
Cheers for that. my Saab is a 2.3 pertrol and just got a daxara 158 with 13" wheels so that give me an idea. I think my turque is around 230 plus. Get about 40 mpg when driving on a motorway so if i look at around 30 -35m mpg will prob be right.
We dont work out the MPG - pulling the trailer with the car loaded, two adults (cant really admit to being grown up) and two children the tank range dropped by around 40 miles.
