It does depend what your gonig to use to cook on.  I use a "suitcase" cooker (there about £10 in most shops) and these take smaller gas canistors that are similar in size to a larger deoderant.  Ive always found these to be ok and wouldnt want to lug around a huge canister esp for the time your going.  Here is a link for the kind of stove i mean:

I actually bought mine from tesco and the gas was there as well, think it was about £5 for 4 cannisters which should be enough for 3 days.

You can get the cannisters for these from most camping and caravan shops nowadays, think its the P220 gas cartridge. Handy wee cookers for taking away on day trips as well, saves a fortune in tea and coffee! (-;
