Hi all
I have no idea how many times we have camped on club and commercial sites over the last 30 years before that it was all wild or ask the farmers permission.
But in all that time we have never had anything stolen from inside or outside our tents.
If you choose to go to big commercial sites that cater for static and cabin hire, then there is a good chance if you leave thing in view they may get stolen.Or if the site you choose is near a large town or city with a path that passes through or along side you may get the local thieves visit the site, but if you stay away from those type of sites the majority I would say you do not have any more chance of been burgled in your tent, as you do at home.Just my opinion. I soon work out who belongs to what and should I see a stranger around a neighbor tent I would go and stand by the tent and look at the person, without a challenge,if they are up to no good that will see them off.
Regards
Rex.

As Rex has already said, if you are staying on sites catering just for tents and touring caravans, everyone is in the same boat, so to speak, and therefore are more likely to respect others belongings.
It seems to be one of those unspoken rules and etiquette in camping that everyone looks out for each others gear.
(Just like those other little quirks of camping: like chatting in the washing up area to total strangers about the day's weather and smiling as you pass someone going to the toilet and shower block........could this be an idea for a new thread; What are the unspoken rules or wonderful etiquettes peculiar to camping?)
Best wishes and wishing for Easter bank holiday to come round again

hi all, we where at blue dolphin park last summer and my wife was taking to someone who's tent had been robbed. they took all the electrical goods camera's etc. out of their tent. i have read the rest of the forums and everyone is of the same mind set, lock them away when you go out
I think this just clarifies what Rex has said. Blue Dolphin is a large mixed site. Haven don't tend to be too hot on security and public tend to wander freely. (As we found out when our vehicle was broken into one night!)
