We're obviously all "REAL" campers, as we all bang 'em in all the way
Seriously tho, it's not only lazy to leave them sticking out, it's dangerous! Especially on a family type site. I know people shouldn't be walking that close to other peoples tents, but either way you're asking for trouble if you leave them sticking out.

& the most likely person to be injured??? Yourself, or one of your family, so it could be classed as irresponsible as well.
Rant over

45 degee angle and all the way!!!!!! Maybe a bit hard to get out but rather that than come loose or worse, cut feet or something, there are enough trip hazzards with guy ropes as it is without pegs sticking out of the ground.

90 degrees to the angle of the guy lines.

I'm another all the way girl and I peg every guy rope they are there for a reason.  I was taught 45ยบ and when pegging your guys you follow the seam of your tent, I was taught with a good old canvas ridge tent with bloody big wooden pegs.  I remember having blisters from knocking them in with a big wooden mallet, those were the days!

Definitely all the way in - what's the point in using them otherwise?

I've just had five days away at a site in Norfolk, using my free standing awning on my mpv. I pegged every conceivable point there was to peg, plus all the guy lines - on Sunday the wind was really bad and though the sides of the awning flapped a bit it stayed strong and never moved.
