My OH drives an old shape Jazz, we've had it four years and never had a problem except when some clown ran into her. The insurance company gave us a Nissan Note as a hire car and I have to say it was like a larger Jazz, I liked it.
Hi, I have had a Jazz now for three years and find it perfect for camping. I camp with my five year old grand-daughter so I fold the double part of the back seat down and leave one seat in place for her child seat which gives us plenty of boot space, the cool box normally goes on the front seat. We have to take loads of extra junk for her, a scooter, box of toys/games etc and have always managed to have room to spare. We even manage to fit the dog in.
I am very excited as my mother is about to get a brand new Jazz to replace her much-loved old Nissan Micra. The Micra did sterling work and it's amazing what you can fit in one, even when the back seats didn't fold down flat. But after comparing a Jazz and a Toyota Yaris at the weekend, we were completely blown away by the Jazz - and the magic back seats... I am very easily impressed!!
We can't wait to go away camping with it - we got all our stuff in the Micra, but the space in the Jazz will be luxurious in comparison!
We used to drive my large mobility scooter up ramps via the rear hatch and into ours when the back seats were down, much to the astonishment of any passers by, we then packed the ramps away down the side of it, and stacked the luggage and gear ontop of that, it really was a tardis, and im sure you have made the right decision in buying it in comparison to the Yaris, which is quite tiny in the bootspace department and would never be able to take such a load as we mamanged to pack into our Jazz, im sure that you will have many happy hours of motoring in it.

Just a word of warning about Handiracks, I used them on my Jazz and the roof popped in, thought I had wrote the car off, luckily it popped back out when I removed the load (not that heavy either), the problem is there is no strengh in the middle of the roof only at the edges where the roof bars are meant to fit, since I got a proper roof rack I have had no problems.

Hmm, interesting point. I should think this would be true of a lot of modern cars.
I don't know if this is the case with the previous model but the current Jazz has side curtain airbags, so the Handirack is a no-no. I also use 'proper' roof bars with a HandiHoldall and find it very useful. Once on site, I remove the HandiHoldall roll it up and it lives in the boot until it's time to go home.

My partner drives a Jazz, she's had it for nearly 6 years. As I have a large estate car we don't tend to use her Jazz for camping, but without a doubt if we did not have the dog, all of our stuff would go into it easliy.
Avoid the Auto in the newer car (2009 on) as it's not that good I hear. Otherwise it's a great little car.
You might want to take a look at the Kia Venga. Possibly not as good as the Jazz overall, but it's worth a look.
