??? Have camp sites got rid of water taps then! ????
As far as I'm aware water taps are available on site, but they don't do .serviced pitches for tents yet. EHU yes water no,
So although I can fetch by any means I choose, It still means backache every-time I want a brew.
Yes I could use a pop bottle, but as we use no facility sites that's an awful lot of trips to the field tap at 300ml a go
Now this problem has been brought up many times this year from starting with the design students onwards.
Still waiting for a working solution
So as we use none facility sites, we need enough water for cooking washing up, washing us, and brewing up
Bad back, knakered knee. Umpteen trips to the water point out of the question. lifting 5 gal every time I need water not good. Bending down not a problem, it's the getting up again that's hard
Now if I could fill one 10gal carrier tote it on it's wheels and then pump it up to hand height then I would be on happy bunny.
Cost is also a factor so anything over £20 complete is a none stater
As is all the duff systems I've already bought and thrown
We only started camping this year and a sink was high on the list. We liked the idea of going to basic sites and wanted to make things easy.
So we ordered an Outwell Richmond kitchen unit and i replaced the canvas sink with normal £4 washing up bowl. added a caravan plughole and a length of waste pipe which goes outside to a black can.
Underneath the unit where a gas bottle can go is a 25L water tank with a caravan whale 12volt pump. On top of the unit is a basic tap with micro switch. Open the tap, the pump runs, and you get cold running water. Job done.
Makes washing up a breeze, i never liked the idea of carrying your washing up across site for all to see.
We have a Kampa Holkam 6
which with all the kit we take fits nicly in here.
I use this, it's really handy for washing up, draining water from cooking, washing clothes - very handy item. We just have a tube running into a trug. Running water on tap would be brilliant tho

Hi Oldham, as you know we are working on a system like this for the same reasons as you. We managed to get a newer Aquaroll at the car boot sale last week, our 12v shower submirsible pump drops into this one (the old one had a smaller opening so the pump wouldn't fit), you can pull the shower head off the end of the pipe so we use the 12v pump plus its battery pack to pump water up to a usable level. It's working pretty well in the garden but the first live testing will be next weekend.
I like the look of the whale tap and that's ideally what I want with a pump but the bits are too pricey.

Thats the same setup we have but in brown. Got it off ebay for £20.
I couldnt see the point off the games on top as the hooks have stuff hanging on them most of the time.
We have a little sink in our kitchen stand but use it for storing our bits and bobs in! I do like the idea of having running water in the tent though for cooking etc. We have virtually the same set up as pheonix so I am very jealous at this 'step up' from our kitchen!
By way of update, our water pumping system works well.
We stand the aquaroll in the corner of the loo annexe, drop the submirsible pump from the 12v shower into it. and use use the pump to bring water up to a decent level. We have a small fold up stool that the shower attachment stands on when not in use and this gives something to put the shower and pipe on when not in use to avoid syphoning.
We had the shower already so it cost us around £17 for an Aquaroll at a car boot sale.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
