The blue pegs are fine they do the job well so don't rush out and buy any new ones to replace them, that is unless you are going to get delta's or rock pegs...

We had our first run out with the hartford xl at the weekend also with blue pegs. we went to the lakes where the ground is usually very rocky under neath and with metal pegs almost every time hit rock. Had no prob with the blue pegs but when removing them today noticed a couple had been slightly bent at the ends, although nothing too major and prob very reusable. I'm going to invest in some nice heavy duty ones just incase tho

We have the blue ones that came with the tent, a couple have bent slightly at the ends and one split during the high winds recently, but as others have already said, you would probably need specialist pegs for very hard ground and they've been ok up to now. We ran out of wire pegs so bought a pack while we were away from a local camping shop. Frankly, we'd have been better off using clothes pegs to anchor us to the grass, they were flimsy and soon bent like a hairpin. Then again, they were only a couple of quid so I suppose you get what you pay for. We went and bought a more expensive set, as they say, buy cheap buy twice.
When I bought the Outwell Carolina it came with the blue plastic pegs. I decided to give them a try. They seemed fine except they used to bring out a large plug of soil when extracted and were difficult to clean off. They certainly held well though.
On about the third trip I used them at a campsite which had stoney soil under the turf. They went in fine but it wasn't until I extracted them that I discovered they had all gone banana shaped. I decided to ditch them and bought a complete set of rock pegs. I now use rock pegs on the fly and the guys all the time and find them good general purpose pegs.
So the answer re blue plastic pegs is that they will do the job very well but are messy when extracted and will eventually get bent beyond use. I gather you can heat them and bend them back but they will only get bent again so perhaps best to get stronger pegs sooner rather than later.
