I had one of the rails but dut to the uneven ground it kept falling over

Never thought about that

Was going to try the rail this year as. like OP, our built in one wont take much weight before looking dodgy on the tent material.

Err, you are camping. Nobody expects you to be in a pressed 3 piece suit with matching cravat.

My opinion? Just live out of the bag & be done with it. Try nesting smaller bags inside a larger one to keep things organised so you know where your heavy weather kit/change of underwear is.

My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.

So glad to see someone roughs it like us.  All clothes in bin bags, one bag for each of us and then as the week progresses dirty clothes fill a spare bag so its easy to sort once home.  Small items in small bags inside binbag. Socks, smalls etc washed/rinsed out as the week progresses so cutting down on even more items to take.

The clothes stay dry and aid the packing in the boot as no hard sides.

Have a great time and unless you hit Paris for the day, why worry if you're a bit creased, tell the locals its so this years look in UK.
