Sorry to hear about your camping experience Road Hog, sounds like it should be fairly painless to repair. Saying that it doesn't take away from the fact that it should never of happened.

Thanks for the heads up on he AWP... I will be avoiding them like the plague.

I am new to camping and our ebay purchase also has a small hole and a scrapped, not yet punctured line in the bedroom pod.

We did get a repair kit with the tent, but it did not include groundsheet material.

The bag for the poles and pegs seems to be made of the same material.Ripstop nylon.

My question is could I use a strip of this material and stick it useing tenatious tape(do not have any) or could I use another type of glue that we have ,or not bother with a patch and put duct tape over it hole .1cm  plus scrape 4cm.

would it be best to repair from under neathground sheet??

thanks

I've suffered a small burn hole in a groundsheet (from a mozzie killer) about the size of a 5 pence piece. I stuck some masking tape on the underside (bear with me) then filled the hole with seam grip. Let it set overnight, then flip the groundsheet over, remove the masking tape and apply more seam grip to the other side. This has the benefit of "grabbing" all of the threads of the groundsheet and preventing the hole from enlarging, and there is no way the stuff can peel off unless you physically pick at it. I've used tenacious tape as well but found the seam grip method better. Whichever you use, make sure you thoroughly clean the groundsheet with white spirit before hand to remove any grease!!

We've stayed on AWP pitches a number of times, without issue. However we do always use a footprint too. The improved drainage has been a definite bonus.

I guess sometimes you're lucky and other times...

Thanks to all the replies. I'm picking up some T Tape today/tomorrow and will do the repair at the weekend, repairing it on both sides and cutting the tape peices into a rounded shape as suggested.

Hopefully I can get it done in the back garden and packed away (I hate packing the Monty 6, that bag is like a reverse Tardis) before we see any rain.

Hopefully my misfortune will save somebody else from the same hassle.
