When I was little, but no longer needed my cot, my Dad had converted the two sides into a clothes airer by putting leather hinges on the short ends. I used to have a blanket draped over it and use it as a play tent - started young, I guess. The little white pup tent I had in the garden, sadly, was as appealing to daddy-longlegses as it was to me, so I rarely spent a whole night in there!

as a child, I used my mum's jinormous clothes horse propped up on the windowsill outside with a blanket thrown over it with a rug on the floor as bedding/carpet with my doll's and tea set. OMG, must stop this nostalgia trip, just posted on another thread about 'back when' lol

when i was little i was forever "camping out" in the living room...under two dining room chairs with a sheet thrown over the top...aaah those were the days...!!

if we were really lucky tho, dad would bring one of our smaller tents down from the loft so we could camp out in the garden...many a dewy morning i'd wake up, after having wriggled about a little too much in my sleeping bag overnight, only to find my lower half still inside the tent, but my head resting fairly and squarely in the middle of a flowerbed...!!

We took our new tent up to my parents' last week to practise pitching it in their garden (our garden is too small). Didn't sleep in it, but sat in it in my new camping chair reading a book for an hour or so before taking it down again. My parents' dog seemed to like it too - he hopped up onto my husband's chair and kept me company.
