thanks to all the above posts offering support on this matter. toady we have booked in for a tow bar to be fitted, next we are out to buy a trailer. then off with all the gear packed in the trailer with 3 + the dog in the car. Pray for sun.

IF you have the trailer then definitely getting that towbar is the way to go as youll get more in it.

You can then get a roof box later.

I have both and use both but its nice to leave trailer behind when going on shorter breaks and just use a smaller tent and a roof box....

If your out to buy a trailer and dont mind a drive to collect, then this on on Flea Bay looks a stunner if it stays this low in price

We bought a towbar on eBay and got it locally fitted - in total was only around £120 (that was with double electric for the caravan). Since you already have a trailer seems the sensible option.

...and when you have bought all the possible tent stuff and still want more creature comforts your car is ready for you to buy a van!!
