Hi Amy, yes you would be much better just going for a 'conventional' tent of similar price. You will get a lot of posts on here about people finding cheapest possible place to buy a tent, but mail order is not the best way. Whatever your price range, if you go to a place with tents erected you can lie down in it, look at how well the guys are fitted & assess the general quality. Little point in ruining the whole camping experience to save a few quid by buying online.
Unfortunately the shape of a bell tent or Tipi means that any condensation which collects on the inside surface of the flysheet will drip on to the sleepers beneath if the flysheet is made of non-absorbent material. An inner tent made of an absorbent material such as cotton would help as it could absorb these drips.
I found the same problem with a synthetic Tipi I had.
