Thanks for the reply guys still no news from yeomans or outwell yet. When I phoned a week after I had sent them photos of our tent the guy I spoke to said he was the only one in the office that week and they hadn't even looked at my email yet but would get round to it when he could . We got it online from the Nottingham shop which is a good 3 hour drive from us otherwise I would of took it back , I can repair it myself with tape and use the tent but really don't see why I should after spending good money on a supposed good product less than 3 months ago which has failed in a big way . I'm not trying to sl*g anyone off as we got a good deal from yeomans who were first class when we bought it but just feel after 2 weeks no contact even a phone call to update on progress would of been nice .
it would of course have been good service just to make contact with you and let you know that the matter is in hand and that it might take x number of weeks / months to deal with it as they are relying on outwell to sort this out and that they are really just the messenger.
that way at least you know your not being ignored.
Personally I would call Yeomans again and speak to someone (get a name) to find out what your options are. I’m assuming as they have no stock the options will be limited to a repair (which may take time) or a full refund.
If you really like the tent you could ask if it will be possible to carry out a temporary repair for your planned trip and then sort out the return when you get back....? Just make sure if this is possible as it may invalidate your warranty
However I was told by another retailer that Yeomas are in trouble financially – hence the reason for selling off the stock so cheap. How true this is I do not know and certainly cannot find anything on line to validate the story.
I'm not one for dragging old posts up but thought I better give credit where it's due. As you can see from the old posts we had issues with an outwell tent we got and left it for Yeomans to resolve, well not only did they send us a brand new 2013 vermont xlp as soon as they got stock but after research there is a slight difference on size so they have just sent a new footprint to match. Just hoping we got a bad one and this will be the start of a great summer camping , must give Yeomans credit as they sorted this out as soon as they could .
I am sure there was thread a while back about this same issue with seams on Outwell groundsheets.
I think they are good tents but personally have had issues with a few over the years and its always been the seams of the tent or groundsheet.
