Camp site reviews can be useful as long as they are only used as guidelines due to the fact that there are discrepancies which at times can be misleading like you say. It's no different to car reviews though as what they consider as important such as loading capacity or the quality of the dashboard may bear no importance to me at all so the best way is to have a test drive and make my own decisions afterwards. My review of a vehicle may differ to those advertised and camp sites are no different in what peoples likes and dislikes are therefore it's best to take them with a pinch of salt really and use them just as a general guide and find out for yourself. The only true way to find the results of any review is by doing your own analysis on a percentage basis by adding all the reviews together and then dividing the good which then gives you a percentage of the overall positive rating but then this can be difficult if a site only has very few reviews. We visited a site last year after reading several fairly good reviews on here (no mentions where exactly) but when we got there is was literally like Steptoes back yard to say the least and left the next day along with another elderly couple in a caravan next to us who found a better site down the road for £5 per night more with all basic ammenities on site and much more pleasant. So basically, the people who had left reviews on here that had previously camped at this site (or back garden to be quite honest) found that this was quite acceptable and good value for money so for this very reason I only ever look at a review on here now merely as a basic guide.

It took a while but eventually I noticed the majority of negative reviews had been left by caravanners...They moan about site facilities but most have the facilities in their own vans so why don't they use them ?
I always chuckle when caravanners moan about pitches not being level. They have a certain amount of levelling ability in their vans, they don't have to sleep on a gradient like we often have to!
There are some "positive" comments that are actually negatives for me.
"Child-friendly" usually puts me off - don't want to be anywhere where there are lots of kids, any references to on-site clubs or bars is just what I don't need, and even "grass mown regularly" can mean some bloke making a racket with his ride-on mower when I'm enjoying the peace and quiet.
The converse also applies. Gripes about site staff being officious and rigorously enforcing rules about noise at night and ball games make me think that's just the site for me!

LOL same here. You always have to read the reviews with your own needs in mind. Family friendly sites are not for me!
We all want different things from sites and the reviews are very helpful when making a decision on what we want.
One grip I have is when people say that the tolilets are a mess......I generally don't think the site can be wholly blamed for this....I have yet to see a site owner throw toilet roll on the floor....leave nappies or other paraphernalia in the sinks or flood the whole toilet block. Oh and have never seen the owners or wardens children use the toilet block as a play ground.
The reviews on UKCS are invaluable as long as you can ignore the ranting loonies.
We all have different needs from a site.
Recently I have matched people on a site I have been on at the same time as them to their review on here and to say they were being economical with the truth is an understatement !!
I think there's more bad choices of sites rather than bad sites.
