But you can pack up and go home if you are having a crap time! Ok it might cost you some money but surely if you are unhappy what's the point in being there?
The thing with camping is that you can make a choice and move/go home if you want/need to.
Having said that, I am sure you will be fine, have a great time and your kit will perform admirably.
I am afraid I have admitted defeat guys. I have booked static vans for the holiday. Before anyone flames me let me explain, there was another reason I was nervous that I didn't mention. I have a medical condition which flares up from time to time which results in complete agony, sometimes requiring a visit to a&e and even hospital admission, which is exactly what happened on Sunday.
I am typing this from the surgical ward of the Ulster Hospital. With the way I've been for the last 2 days, the realisation of what it would be like to have a flare up while in a tent that far from home has made my mind up. Camping will have to be restricted to camping locally where I can come home quickly if needs be.
I'm quite upset as I was looking forward to it as were the kids, but the reality is I'm just not fit for it.
So sorry to hear you're not well! Hope you're feeling better soon.
It sounds like you've had a hard decision to make, but if it's the right one for you then so be it. Hopefully you'll be fit enough for some shorter trips away closer to home later on.
We did exactly the same last year. Tent pitch booked in France, me recovering from 3rd op, decided to keep the ferries and o/n's, but switch to a static. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Get well soon and enjoy a worry free holiday with your family, wherever. Good luck.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
Regardless of the type of unit, I would advise recce'ing the area around the camp site for shops such as supermarkets, B&Q, Halfords, camping equipment supply, vet, pharmacy, nearest hospital etc...
I prefer to do this in advance in case phone or internet reception is dire and I cannot look up the required information.

Thanks all, we were meant to be going to a local site which came recommended to us but have cancelled that too.
I can usually ride out these flare ups by taking pain killers and sitting upright in a comfy chair with a blanket. The thoughts of only having a camping chair to sit in is worrying..
Should be getting home today so the trip should be able to go ahead. Can't beleive its only 2 weeks away now.
Providing funds allow, if the weather is that bad you can always stroll into a Tourist Information office and the staff will help you find alternative accommodation. We chased wet and windy weather all round Wales one year with our then 2 year old. We had a tent without windows and we were becoming increasingly cold and damp as the rain kept on coming and coming. I flipped one day after going to the supermarket after pitching up at one site and demanded we go into the Tourist Information. OH wasn't impressed but he knew it was my holiday too. I went ahead whilst he parked the car. They were just about to close for the night and didn't look that helpful until my rain soaked OH ran in carrying our small child. They rang round and found us this gorgeous garden apartment in the owner's home, lovely kitchen living space, warm (DRY!), landscaped gardens and as much Duplo as my little one could take! We were so lucky! I did feel a bit of a fraud for giving up but when it's not fun, it's not fun! I don't regret moving on!
Delta pegs...and line locks did us proud last June in the terrible winds in wales ...some tents blew away but ours stood steady and i beleive that the information i got off here about the the Delta pegs and line locks got us through...we didnt use any of the pegs that came with the tent rock pegs did all the other bits the deltas didnt do ....good luck..we have now changed to a tin tent...
