It does, and will, happen. After 20+ years, we've now finally come to the conclusion we'll sell up, and go safaris, statics, or concrete tenting in future.
We love the bit in-between, but the arrival and departure is just too much now.
What a load off. Got two concrete tent slots booked, and pondering all points north, east, south, and west for France 2015.
The thought of chucking just two bags, and two bikes, in the car and going is so appealing.
We've had some great times, and we'll have more in future. But someone else can do the hard work
These past two and a half years I have been lucky to be away camping at least once a month all through the year...And since its time for sharing(Keeping in mind I leave my self open to ridicule)...
I find myself wishing my life away till the next trip be that in a group or as a solo camper....And find myself getting upset (Disappointed) when a planned trip falls through or never gets off the ground because of other commitments or lack of funds or whatever...As has happened once or twice....
I console myself reading of others trips on here...But admit...the green eyed monster rears his head from time to time when I think of that individual or family group off enjoying themselves in the green stuff...Especially if the group I am connected with on here come back raving about the good time they have had.....
To sumerise...I share the ethos of your post Mucker...And going by my age and times off camping would say that feeling of "Missing Out" does not diminish...If any thing...It gets worse....
There...I have said it....Make of that what you will......

Mucker is that a picture of you on a horse? I must say you have a striking resemblance to the actor John Wayne
No, it's just the way he walks.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it

Ooh... You might be interested to know that that saddle I'm on is made of the finest, erm, Wyoming leather... smells divine!
Hey Mucker I didn't know you were into saddle sniffing. Once again I doff my hat in admiration. Whilst I'm happy with the odd bicycle you seek out equestrian facilities....
I'd probably have to agree with Jellboy. My addiction to camping has in fact got worse as i've got older and i probably camp more now than i did when the family were young. I guess there is no cure.
The "trouble" with not getting away this month, is that I have more time for researching my upcoming destination of the Vendee (arrive on site in about 2 weeks and 6 hours!!).
I'm now concerned that 2 weeks (12 nights camping, plus 2 overnight hotel stops) won't be enough to fit everything in! No chance of extending our stay this time, either, like we did last year!
My big problem while away is the packing up...I have enjoyed two or three days away...Know I have to be back home by a certain time....Must catch that bus etc....Should really crack on get packed and off home...But I find myself squeezing in another hour or two with a slow pack up especially in good weather...
Don't know if its because I don't want to come home...Or I can't face lugging all my back packing gear to the bus stop....But I always linger on for an hour or so.....

Don't feel too bad, you're clearly a very dedicated camper! Jealousy is normal.
I'm constantly jealous seeing pictures on here. We've only been away 3 times this year, March, May and July. We're going again in September and then not until New Year. 14 nights so far and it will be between 18 and 21 by the end of the year so hardly any at all!
Just relax, get away whilst you can and enjoy the time you do get away rather than dwelling on the time you don't!
