We are only ever insured on our travel insurance when we go to France. It is probably enough to replace the tent.
The rest of the time we don't bother. They don't even make the Pescara anymore so even though we bought it New last year, I don't know if the market value is that high.
The only one that is worth insuring is the F10 but any excess would swallow up the price of the most common replacement parts. At least you can get every part imaginable for a Force 10.
Now if I had a karsten, I would have insurance.

I was thinking about insuring my tent as it wasn't cheap at all. Which one is best for being covered when your out and about?
Not certain, but I think it might be cheaper going through one of the clubs, if you're a member? Not sure if it's CC or C&CC... or both? Perhaps someone else can confirm that?
Ends up with the same cover by the same insurance, I believe, but you start the process on the Club website (if a member) rather than on that direct link above.

Not wishing to preach, Purps, but unless you already know the answer, it might be worth checking.
When our previous tent's were included within our home policy, even being specifically named/valued on a "Personal possessions" list (along with Muckerettes hearing aids/wedding ring/bits of jewellery etc), when away from the actual home address, they were only covered if we were present/they were in our possession.
If our tent was unattended (by us, specifically!) at the time of any incident, ie when out for the day, the insurance was invalid, and the tent wasn't insured!
May not be the case for all, I presume, but might be worth checking.
Hubby sorted it and he assures me it is covered. As we are buying a Karsten when this tent dies I am not too bothered
but I will be taking separate insurance on the Karsten

Hmmm... with that said, Purple, I think if and when it does die, I may suggest the police treat it as "suspicious", and at least make a few enquiries!
