Thanks again all! Exessexmum - I had hoped I'd be able to put the inner up inside to get an idea of it but could only have done that if I'd moved all the furniture out first! I'm just too impatient to wait til spring and wanted to check all the bits were there. I made sure all the upper bits stayed on the groundsheet and because we only went in and out quickly and without shoes it didn't get muddy as there wasn't much weight on it. The groundsheets got a bit wet but not much, much less trouble than I expected!
Our large tent has a couple of webbing straps that we can tie around the rolled up inners and groundsheets and tighten, compressing everything until it will fit into the bag. Once the bag is on, the straps can be undone and taken off. The flysheet has its own bag, and we have found the best way of packing this is just to fold it roughly and then stuff it into the bag. It takes two of us to do the zip up on the bag mind you!
We spent about an hour folding the various bits up and rolling on them and it's all back in the bag now, neat-ish and with pole and peg bags in there too! For a first attempt, I'm quite proud of me and my girl :)
