We've got two children aged 3 and 6 and they sleep with either mummy or daddy on a double airbed in separate sleeping bags.

We found this arrangement worked fine last year as they felt reassured with it being their first camping trip.

It did get a bit chilly at night so we could make sure they kept warm with them next to us. I burst one of the beds though by over inflating it so I'll probably get one of these this year which will give us a few more options now they ( and we) are a bit more confident...not from ABC though going by some of the comments on here.

We have a  double each because that way I can sleep with my youngest in case of nightmares, storms etc if necessary.
When my daughter was woken up and frightened by a storm - I kicked OH out to sleep on her single airbed and she got on the double with me !!!! lol

We had a nightmare with our (then) 2 and 4 year olds sharing a tent bedroom in France last summer.   They're not used to sharing and kept each other awake for hours, so were grumpy and tired the next day etc etc (you know how the cycle goes on!).   I don't know why we didn't think of splitting them like this - it sounds like it would have solved our problems!
