I've only used two sites in the seven years i've been camping. Both are within half an hours drive from home. One is on the Gower coast with fantastic views of the countryside and beach, clubhouse and indoor pool. The other is beside the river, no campsite views, but has a duckpond on site with ducks and swans, and little kids can fish for tiddlers with a net. It also has a clubhouse and indoor pool. Both have excellent shower facilities. I find that the pool is a godsend, but don't use the clubhouse much if at all. We prefer to sit outside the tent or caravan and just chill. We have stuck with these 2 sites because I don't drive and oh can't often get time off as much as I can, as I work in a school, so very often he will drop me of with the kids and collect us a few days later. Or sometimes he will go to work from the site. Last year I spent the entire summer holidays at the riverside site. The advantage of these sites being so close to home also means that my sisters will often join me for a night or two with their kids, we often camp as a group, or just squeeze the extra kids in wherever we can for a night.
It.s definitley the views there's naught better than wathching the sun go down behind the mountains. I hate overcrowded and commercilised sites and obviously dirty loos.
Definately having clean loos and showers, especially with having 2 young kids I also like a good view but no clubhouse, the kids are our entertainment, we are stuck in to much during the winter months to be stuck in a clubhouse we love to be outside or inside the tent with a heater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always use the reviews of this site. I look for clean amenities, walks or beach within walking distance, preferably no club/pub/games room. Prefer a shop of sorts on site for milk/bread etc, but then somewhere not too far to go for other food for dinners etc.

------------- "Are we there yet?" - Rhianna & Leanne. (Usually heard within 1/2 hour of setting off)
Clean loos, showers and sinks are vital. A place for children ie: a park on the site. Close places to visit outside the site. Possibly a place where there is a lot of nature around such as; Rivers, animals etc. No bars or pubs where drunk people keep you awake at night. Basically I dont want to think of camping as a task or - (roughing it) but as a peaceful, family time.

View... A tap..... space..... Often means going to places with no showers, no loos nothing.
Please stay away world....

We're with you (albeit some distance away) on this one. We used to like camping wild in remote places (Orkney, Harris, Lewis, West coast/far north of Scotland, a secret place in North Wales, etc). Nowadays we like our comforts (ie clean loos & hot showers will do), but apart from that it must be rural, preferably away from major roads, quiet, preferably few kids, not crowded and preferably a nice view. That's why we like C&CC club sites.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
