The tent comes with removable groundsheet for the small porch as well as an Outwell welcome mat.
We pitch the tent back to front so that we can put the side canopy on the side without the little porch and use this to store wet/dirty shoes etc and use this as our main entrance/front door. We also put the welcome mat just outside this door to step onto when taking shoes off. We use the small porch as a back door and as a toilet tent for night time visits only.
We also drop the two berth inner which is on the same side as the small porch and use this area as a kitchen/general storage area (i.e. empty bags and boxes piled inside each other, rubbish bin). The EHU entry point is just under the porch door, so it make sense to use this side for kitchen appliances to avoid trailing cables everywhere.
Does this make sense? - Hope it helps
By the way - it's a GREAT tent!!
Do you know if you can put up the Monty 6 the other way around as I've ordered the side canopy and there will be more room in it without the porch!

What a good idea! The thing that was a bit off-putting for us was the small entry porch (probably because we went to view in the rain and the porch fabric was a bit flappy and drenched us when we tried to get inside the tent) but, as a back door, it would be ideal.
Can you tell me please, does the side canopy catch the wind at all? Would you consider taking it off, if it was blowing a gale? Also, is a side canopy also available for the Montana 6?
Yes, the side canopy fits the Monty 6 as well. It does lift a bit in the wind, but if you use something like Delta Ground Anchors then it is pretty sturdy. The side canopy was not specifically designed for the Monty range, but the same side canopy fits both the 6 and 12. We never use the porch on our 4, 6 and 12 as a main entrance. We use it as a toilet tent. We use the front door on our 4 and 6 as the main entrance. We don't use the canopy as a matter of course as we have an Oklahoma, but we use the door without the porch as an entrance door.
