Arne - if you decided to just have a tent for you and your OH, (and let the other couple just make do in their usual little one) then that opens up even more options for you. The Coleman Columbus 4 would do you nicely, as that has both a SIG for the living area, 2 double bedrooms (side by side) and goes up outer first.

If you could run to it, a Cabanon Guadeloupe might be the answer:

Cabanon Guadeloupe

It has a built in groundsheet throughout the entire tent, is extremely simple and quick to pitch (just one central pole an then door support and porch support poles) and is surprisingly spacious inside.

Alternatively, if you do want a quick to pitch, four berth tent, then you might consider the Cabanon Pacific; a one-bag lightweight (alloy poles) frame tent; weighs just 20kg. Easy for one person to pitch. This comes with just one double inner tent, but a second can be purchased as an optional extra:

Cabanon Pacific Tent

(On offer at £299 here)

Thank you very much.  I have read lots of threads and have,  I hope,  learnt some.

I am undecided between the Vango Oregon 400 or 600.  I have watched the video clip of how they are supposed to be erected and the theory at least makes some sense.   The 400 is lighter at 14.1 kg and the pack size is smaller, so it would be easier to manage, but the recommendation to get a bigger tent and have more comfort and space when it is raining also seems sensible.

Does anyone know any retailers in Scotland that would have tents on display?  I realise I may not see a Vango Oregon but I would get a better idea of size and also get to see other equipment that I will need.

Since these tents have the poles on the outside, how do you hang things in the inside?   The electric light hung from a pole in the tent I was in, and there was other storeage units hanging up.
