Thank you, that's very kind indeed - I just felt that I need to offer them as many opportunities as possible and I wont let the fact that I'm on my own stop me or them experiencing many adventures! I cherish my childhood camping memories so I hope in time they will too - not too sure whether it's bravery or stupidity on my part though!! Nevertheless, one just has to get on with these things!

I notice you're in Leamington which is where I spent many years and where my parents still are - beautiful part of the world too. I also notice you've just returned from Disneyland - was that camping? How was it if it was?

I grew up in Devon - so not too far from you!!  Had planned to camp when we went to Disneyland, but had a very last minute change of plans (due to weather forecasts) and booked into a hotel. Which was probably a good idea in the end as we were absolutely exhausted each day.

I got my Oregon 400 to go camping on my own with the girls when OH is away working, only managed 1 night so far (poured with rain), but I still think it's bravery not stupidity!

I just wanted to say a very big thank you to all of you for your guidance and advice - you've all been most informative and helpful. I now have everything from sleeping bags to grobags, fleece all in ones and and and!! - I just mustn't forget my little mencubs!

I bought the sleeping bags as I felt they would be good to have incase the temperature drops. Bumpto3 have confirmed that 2.5tog grobags are best used when the temperature is between 16-20 degrees and 1tog when 21-24 degrees. However with the weather as it is at the moment, I have a feeling it will drop considerably less than this in the early hours.

I am testing my thermometer tonight which takes the lowest and highest temperature readings to get a feel for what it's doing outside during the night. Not that I want to wish one moment away but I do look forward to when I don't have to worry quite so much about their temperature! Though I do feel positively confident having read all your posts and now I just need to put it all in action.

Many thanks again and I hope this topic may help other new mums (and dads of course) when venturing out for the first time with their little ones.
