Well, we've been away for a week in the new Indiana 4, or the palace as we now call it.
It took an hour to put it up, peg out the guys and get all our stuff inside and organised, including pumping up the airbed by hand (his job, not mine ). Not bad for a first attempt. We were sitting outside afterwards enjoying a cuppa when a neighbour wandered by and said "I've just been admiring your splendid tent", which made us feel rather smug .
The first night we had pouring rain and a driving wind all night, but the tent was rock solid. Another camper, with a dome/pod tent, had problems because a couple of his poles were bent in the wind. So those heavy steel poles were worth it. A few drops of water under some of the seams in the morning though. I think that was due to the wind, as there wasn't any leakage from rain later in the week. But where the tent came into its own was when we were able to cook and sit under the canopy even though it was raining. Much better than the old tent, where having a door up to make a canopy in the rain meant rain getting inside because of the sloping sides.
And so much space! It took us about three days to get used to being able to stand up in the bedroom, we both realised we were crouching in there, being so used to having to do that before. Also lovely to be able to sit around the table inside in the evenings, rather than outside as before. Lots of windows, so we could see what was going on outside. The organiser pockets were a godsend for all those annoying little bits and pieces that you need to put somewhere.
The tent is also well ventilated, so no condensation.
It took a couple of hours from starting to empty the tent to getting everything in the car, but that did include a lot of groundsheet wiping as the ground was wet, and it was a real struggle to get it in the bag, but we managed it in the end. All in all, we're very pleased with our new tent
Indiana 8 is awesome. We had ours for 2 years now and used it loads of times.
Pics in gallery.
In France last year it was blowing a gail and never heard rain like it during the night. But it withstood it all.
Poles are heavy as you say but worth the strengh.
The little pocket hole in the side i presummed was for the electric hookup lead. Wel thats what i use it for when we go abroad with it.
We have 2 boys and a girl so she is spoilt wiht her own room. But it does seem silly if you take out one of the bottom rooms there is no ground sheet. But we never had to do that yet anyhow
Hi there pam i have just joined uk cxampsites and noticed you have a tent for sale. But for some reason when i send you message it keeps on saying no such host. Can you let me know if its still for sale.
Been away in it four times now, no problems at all. The space inside is amazing, loads of room for the kids to mess about in. Did not put up the third pod at all, didn't need it but it will be handy when my mate comes away with us with his daughter.
Overall extremely happy with it, can not fault it at all, strong, doesn't leak and roomy. Just a great tent!
