I love my Crocs!! Agree they are ugly but they are so comfortable and practical it outweighs what they look like for me and they are just the perfect camping footwear.
I take for me and the kids wellies, crocs and trainers/walking shoes.
I have a collapsable crate by the door and cardboard. Cardboard is a godsend. It works much better than alot of gadget you buy. You never have to clean it and in very wet weather it also protects your entrances from becoming muddy pools. In extreme wet weather I change the cardboard after a day or 2 if its getting muddy!! It lasts surprisingly well. When 1st suggeste to me I thought it would go soggy after a few hours but no it really lasts well.
Its free as well. Everytime we pass a supermarket on our camping trip we pop in get some boxes.
Hi all
Once again this is were the benefits of a large Tarp comes into play especially on a traditional frame tent, but could be set up on any type of tent even a pyramid.not too sure about a bell tent though. Rain hail or shine when you come home with muddy wet footwear you have a dry area to remove and store and dry the clothing. here Towels drying in the rain tarps in use

I have to agree with Rex - it does help if you have some kind of cover by the door of the tent. I have a sun canopy I can attatch to the front of my Frame Tent and it does help. Why it is called a sun canopy I have no idea - its more useful in the rain and I should really re name ours as the rain canopy!
After last summer we have bought a large canopy......apart from the added storage for wet stuff, it`ll stop the rain blowing into the tent door every time its opened
Obviously though......its going to be a long hot summer this year
we take one of the big flat cardboard fruit boxes loaded with the food and when we get there, unpack the box and use it for standing muddy shoes in. It means you can throw away the grotty box rather than trying to clean and repack it.
In the Vermont we put one of those garden tablecloths down on the floor with some newspaper on top, for everyone to step onto and take their shoes off. We then put our shoes on newspaper to one side of the porch. The garden tablecloth is brilliant because it`s washable at the end of each trip, just throw it in the washing machine and hang out for half an hour. It also dries out quick when away if thrown over the windbreak.
We have a lightweight rubber backed doormat for standing on while taking off wet muddy boots, then a bathmat and towel for drying same before putting slippers on. Yes I know its a faff but keeps inside of tent clean.
