We share it all. Even the kids help. Jay gets it all down from the loft and we all help bring it down to the living room. I get the clothes ready and all the dogs things and any food we are taking. Jay packs the roof bars, car and trailer and i pass him everything as he is doing it. we do the same when we get there and when we are coming home.

He managed to get the key info but the others are still very vague. Will do it myself when we arrive, MEN Arghhhh!!!!
Ahh you see, I don't really get this, would it not have been quicker and less aggro to just ring them yourself? Why was it "his" job?
We're pretty good at splitting tasks but having said that hubby is the stay at home part of our partnership and I work 10 hour days so he sorts most things although we do a joint unpack/repack at the start and end of the season.
It was down to him cos after we confirmed the booking (in Feb) HE printed the confirmation and put it in a safe place. I had checked all the usual "safe places" but hadn't come across it. Even last weekend he insisted that it said to phone a couple of days before arrival to arrange key and there was still a week to go.
My OH does most of the camping gear prep, he likes to check out all the equipment at the start of the season - stoves etc. I do the clothes and food and chip in my 2p worth here and there. He likes to pack the car but we do have a few disagreements when he think's it's all done and I appear with more stuff lol.

I do everything from checking the camping equipment to getting the food ready. My wife packs her own clothes after I have advised what she really should take for the weather forecast ahead.
OH gets the gear out of the loft (after much nagging), and then I take it from there - checking and repacking equipment, packing clothes/bedding etc, making list after list after list - doing food shopping, preparing tea for 1st night in advance - making sure cool box bottle are frozen blah blah blah.
Usually OH would then pack the car BUT as we now tend to go straight after school on a Friday, picking OH up from work on the way, this is now down to me too.
OH doesn't drive and has no sense of direction - so route planning and driving - ME
OH has no grasp yet of how the tent goes up so I bark orders at him and eventually we get it up together
Then I set up inside while he gets the kettle on
He had it very easy our first weekend away this season - went to a local site with friends - OH was at work til 8pm on the Fri so we set up then friend went to collect OH from work. Then on Sunday morning I drove OH back to work, then went back to site to pack up. I was pooped that weekend - so even though I think he's not doing much when he's there, it did seem a lot easier with the 2 of us.
------------- Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways --- champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other --- screaming... WOOHOO, WHAT A RIDE!"
I get all clothes, food and camping gear ready and pack it all into the car until it's full - the stuff that doesn't fit into the car hubby puts in the roofbox but only because I can't reach. Hubby's job is also putting bike rack on back of car and loading bike's onto it.
OH gets everything out of loft, I sort everything out, and work out what we need to pack for that particular trip, and then he takes it downstairs to the car, I then pack car, and drive to location. Once a campsite, he does most of the tent putting up and cooking, so I figure one day to pack and one day to break camp and put away when we get home is worth it for however long a break we get once away!

June 10 - Barmouth, North Fambridge
No other trips booked YET but that will change :-)
Jules, I love your description of your 'wash & go' hubby! Rob's like that too. He does check the vehicle the day before but he's usually racing to finish working on his clients' cars before he stops, 15mins before we leave, to race through a bath and change. Other than that, I do absolutely everything. We both work, but he does the longest hours and pays most of the cost of our trips away so I don't mind doing all the camping prep. At least that way I know I've only got myself to blame if I forget anything.
Another vote here for the female multi-tasker including finding the site and the directions... But I've always done it for holidays and trips so didn't expect anything different for camping. Actually, I'm happier putting all the kit in as then I know it has been packed. Doesn't stop OH asking about 10 miles down the road have I packed x, Y and z.... (He's another 'wash and go'hubby too. )

Me....I'm doing it right now (well obviously not 'right' now when am, in fact, having a tea break)
I've got so much to do before tomorrow morning. I've got the list sorted but I've still got so much to do I don't know where to start. I've got the clothes ironed and packed. I haven't gathered my camping gear but it's all in convenient places and I've got a list. Some of it's already in the car from the last time anyway.
I'm knackered. Was going to have a shower. It's too late now I'll do that in the morning, along with all the other 101 things I have to do before 9am tomorrow. The house is a mess. I need to vacuum, I have wet clothes needing dried. My dog is emptying the bin and eating all the lettuce my kids wouldn't eat earlier on, she's sneaking out with one mouthful at a time to her bed giving me those 'you don't see me' glances. I don't care.....
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
