Watched the prog last week, some superb footage, my Dad use to pack me my Brother and Mum, into the Austin Cambridge, and of we went for a month, hardly any Autoroutes in France back in the early 70's, it used to take us a week to get down to Antibes on the Cote d Azur, as the program mentions, our family started doing the package hols to Majorca etc, when flying became cheap in the 80's, sadly I feel many of the youth of to-day dish camping in favour of boozed crazed hols to Magaluf etc, packed like sardines into there clinical like apartments, pity realy so many 20 somethings would find a camping holiday far more enjoyable, although not all inclusive lol.
Just watched this programme on iplayer & absolutely fascinating. Does anyone know what the blue tent with the woman sitting inside talking is? Thought it looked rather nice but it only showed the same inside shot so no clues as to what make or model - anyone know?
Have to agree with you there Woofers. Although the archive footage was good, with a title like Britain Goes Camping I expected it to be more up-to-date, so I was a bit disappointed too

Thanks, but the film was called Ball Trap goes to the Coate Sauvage, or something, and starred a young Zoe Wanamaker, of My Family fame. Would love to buy a copy but searched on Amazon, and no joy. I may have the title wrong.

Sorry about that I likely have it wrong then. I just looked it up in the TV listing on bbc4 for that date.
