He obviously needs to charge more per family to make up for the ones that turn around and leave!
I'm so sorry to hear your story, but please leave a review, it's a shame you've had to go through this, but an accurate and fair review is a sure fire way of preventing anyone else having to go through the same thing.
I'm not sure where else this 'pricing' structure would be tolerated! Can you imagine going round a supermarket, adding all your purchases up as you went, only to find at the check out they put the prices up?! Their behaviour was disgusting.
If you ever come down this way (Wiltshire) we can direct you to a lovely site. Hope you go again... and have a better time x

It sounds a bit like Mr Fiddler at the Paradise Camp Site in Carry on Camping.
LOL I watched Carry on Camping only the other night and thought exactly the same thing when reading your post Bernie47...
Sorry to hear about the bad time Claire+Andy, and thank you for warning the rest of us, meanwhile Mr Fiddler can be seen here
It might be worth checking that he is actually legally trading. I wonder if he's declaring all these extra fees he is ripping people off for through his books?

Blimey, im not sure about all the registered business, tax etc (wasnt my intention to open that can of worms) but he just uses a notebook that he bought out (which we hadnt been put in).....he did add us though (i think) but didnt tick off that we had paid, hence asking us whether we had paid, when we had paid, and who we gave the money to (and as already mentioned it was given to him in person only an hour previously). Its just shoddily run if he isnt updating the book as you pay. I remember the very 1st time i went he just had the money off me and put it in his pocket (with no sign of a book or anything) and i was quite worried that i had no evidence that i had paid. It seems as though there is lack of communication between the family members. Instead of leaving one person to deal with the money, bookings, prices etc, they all do it. So, when one gives a price, it may not be that person that comes out to you when you get there, hence being asked for a different amount. For instance, on my 3 calls in the week leading up to the date, i informed the lady we were taking 1 dog, which she said was fine. When we arrived and started discussing the price, we were told that his 'wife' obviously didnt know we had a dog because they had now started charging for them too. So besides wanting extra to the amount that had been agreed over the phone for us, he was also indicating we needed to pay for the dog too! (Last year, dogs were free!!)
It would be interesting to hear whether anyone else has had a problem similar to this at the same place or am i just unlucky??
I have submitted a review and tried to be as objective as possible while getting the facts across. I have not mentioned names or even used the word owner etc but tried to word it as 'We were asked after pitching our tent whether we had paid and to whom we had handed the money to and had to explain it was in fact to this person that we had given the money'.....couldn't think of another way to word it.

The way they treated you is absolutely appalling! If that's how they deal with their customers they won't be in business long as people won't return and they'll get a bad reputation.
The site I was at a few weeks ago states its prices on the website, sends an email confirming booking and prices and then writes out a receipt when you pay. What a contrast!

Just read your review. Think you have been very restrained in your description. Did have this site in my virtual brochure but have deleted it now.
