What do people think of putting one of those shiny space blankets under the airbed/sleepmat? Do you think it would help keep warmer?
If it is a thermarest there is no need (no I am not sponsered lol) Underneath an airbed they make a huge difference. A firend who is a paramedic gave me some when I was still using airbeds and they were superb.
we use picnic blankets on the floor, coleman comfortsmart double hight airbed,a quilt opened out on the top and we each have a coleman hudson 450 sleeping bag one left one right opening so we can join them if we want.very comfortable and warm

Definately a Thermorest but it needs one of those PVC backed picnic blankets beneath and a woollen blanket like a travel rug on top.
Take care

I didn't have room to take a picnic blanket last time I camped and I didn't miss it. My sleeping bag is good for -10 so definately have never needed a blanket on top.
I really think that if you have a good sleeping bag then you don't need additional blankets to keep warm. If you do then you have the wrong sleeping bag. I don't have the luxury of car space so have had to learn what really works using the minimum amount of space. I like to be comfortable though and can't sleep if I am at all cold. Since having the thermarest I have been able to ditch my one time must have.....bed socks
Most of the time I sleep with just a sheet between me and my Thermarest. I use my sleeping bag like a duvet unless it's really cold as I've no need to zip ot up being a 4 season bag. I find the Thermarest keeps me really warm - can never feel any cold coming through from the ground. Excellent piece of kit.
We've had ours for about four years now, they've since updated the range to include a lot more models. We have the old "standard" models. So full length and nowt fancy. We use them loads, both for camping and staying with friends etc. No sign of any wear yet. I'm gutted when I get home - our bed isn't as comfy (and that's a good quality orthopedic job!).
we bought a aero bed camping bed and tried it out last weekend on our first camping trip of the year. It held air wonderfully, never needed to pump it up again over the 3 nights which we usually have to do. nice and firm.
the portable charger means we can blow it up in the tent, not by the car. as long as we remember to charge it up before hand and don't forget it it should be okay. :-)
------------- the bigger the berry, sweeter the juice.
I sent an email to thermarest just saying how I think they are fab and had a lovely reply from A Tina O'Flynn who is sending me a set of those mattress couple kits. I didn't even ask for one just asked if they were thinking of bringing out a double (it was sent before you told me about the kits)
So not only superb to sleep on but awesome customer services
They are good aren't they CG. I've actually emailed Tina O'Flynn myself I think - name rings a bell re. an issue with a Platypus hydration kit (one of their other brands). She was very helpful and referred me to the UK distributor who very quickly and professionally dealt with my problem .
We have blow up airbeds then we put one of the camping mats on top to keep out cold and damp then we have kingsize duvet and hot water bottle when cold
