What a great thread, I've really enjoyed reading this one guys!!!
Roywin51 you said "I once stayed on an adults only campsite in the height of summer when nothing could be heard and no one was about after 9pm it was most disconcerting." just out of interest which one was that?

Here, here Val, I want to hear no more tent snobbery talk. We were away last BH and our neighbours were in an Argos starter tent - by far and away the most pleasant people around us, with good camping values like being helpful and considerate. The Outwell brigade, however...
We have an Outwell and are helpful and considerate campers.

Excuse me but I bought my tent from argos and I am certainly no chav. No where did I put my gold soverign rings? :)
After the first trip out in the argos tent we came straight home and bought an Outwell Montana 6 and extension.
I bought my tent in Argos too.....and then went on tabout Argos tents?o buy a Michigan 12. What is it
Given that there's less and less "proper" camping shops around nowadays (certainly up here anyway) then often Argos is the only easy place that newbies can find to buy a tent, unless they want to dive into the internet and take their chances of being eaten alive there. At least you know Argos will take it back if it falls apart! So good for Argos, and their steadily expanding range of camping gear, including some very acceptable quality tents like Lichfields.

Where were you? Was it us by any chance? If it was then I'd like to let you know... we have an Outwell now. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
