set the scene.. its dead quiet, stars are shining bright and the breeze is warm, you have a nice glass of red in your hand and you sit there staring into a summer night..
Nothing to do with camping but Spillers Groovejet for me.
Mainly because it reminds me of when me and OH first got together and started camping, it seemed to be playing everywhere then. It just conjures up the images of us in our first little tent.
------------- Life is not about waiting for the clouds to pass, but learning to dance in the rain.
Any Creedence Clearwater Revival - it reminds me of driving through Cornwall and camping...especially Bad Moon Rising...it's a bit of a howl at the moon tune!
When I was on an almost empty municipal site in France this summer there was another lone camper, a funny little French man. He woke me up one morning (not early) playing Mike Oldfiels's "Crises" at full blast. My parents used to play it a lot when I was younger, only this time I changed the lyrics, in my head, from; "Crises, crises, you can't get away" to; "Pikeys, pikeys, you won't go away" & the bit that goes; "I need you off my mind 'cos there's a crises" I changed to; "I need you off my land 'cos you are pikeys".
This was all done as I was waking up, in a semi-concious state, but it was going round my head for days afterwards! & still makes me laugh even now. I think that was when the cabin fever really started to set in!
These songs remind me of Cornwall where I grew up (but also go camping every summer so I think they count)
Chris Rea- On The Beach
Judy Tzuke- Stay With Me Til Dawn &
Don Henley -Boys Of Summer
Lou
I was at a wedding last weekend and the final hymn was 'How Great Thou Art'.
When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze....Then sings my soul....
I don't mean to bring religion into this, it just seemed to sum up why I go camping. Until the wedding I don't think I'd ever listened to the words, normally Lena Martell murdering it is a queue to switch the radio off !!!!
