What’s the problem if Ruddi wants to do a bit of vacuuming and ironing in her tent? It’s not spoiling your holiday is it? (unless she’s in the tent next to you )
Actually, what do you reckon are the chances of sneaking some of my ironing in with hers if we ever find ourselves on adjacent pitches?
My ironing heap has been in my bedroom so long it's on the latest Sussex Downs ordnance survey map, complete with contour lines. There's talk of giving it ancient monument status, ever since I found a pair of size 10 loon pants dating back to 1969 at the bottom.

Ohhhhhhh now theres an idea i can run with 1969 was a very good year thats when i was born .....loon pant ????
Please don't hoover next to me, I get enough 'guilt trips' laid on me when I'm at home for not doing housework LOL!
TBH if you want to clean that's fine by me as long as you bear in mind that a hoover (like an airbed pump) is bl&*dy noisy, so don't do it early in the morning or late at night?
Well, I've read the whole thread & I must say I didn't think anyone was being particularly nasty.
It's all quite interesting really, my tent stayed nice & clean on my trip, but that's because it's only small & could be turned inside out for a good shake before moving on to my next stop. I think it's just another problem with these massive tents you get these days, & an occupational hazard if you must insist on having fitted carpets in your tent. Having these luxuries is nice, but there's always a price to pay , & if you don't mind doing it then that's fine.
I think the main problem with a normal vacuum cleaner is the space it takes up, the sweeper type machines are far less bulky, & usually work much better than dust busters, which seem to make more noise than anything else!
My parents had a small sweeper type machine on their boat, it also had an electric motor in it & was rechargable.
I think they should make these carpets in 2 or 3 sections, then you could shake them out easier. I guess I'll never know, they're not my cup of tea & I'm not planning on having any kids any time soon. So, unless I find myself a partner, I guess I'll just carry on shaking out my little tent & living out of a bag in the back of the car on my future camping trips.
I do insist on my washing line though, & actually think hand washing clothes is therapeutic, although I wouldn't want to spend all day doing it!
Oh yes, & I am really OCD over my washing up, I simply must rinse the suds off of everything before drying!

I have opted for the quieter option (Ewbank) We are considerate campers and definatley wouldn't make a noise early in a morning or late at night!!
Glad to hear that.
I forgot to mention the ironing thingy you mentioned earlier. Can anyone explain this to me in more detail please? What is ironing? It sounds painful

I've shown my hubby the replies to my post and he just laughed and said ”do what you want, you always do anyway, just make sure I'm away from the tent when you do the hoovering”, he thinks I'm an embarassment (ha ha!). I will be purchasing my camping vacuum tomorrow!! Our tent equipment just keeps getting bigger and bigger, inflatable sofas, vacuum cleaner, toaster, microwave, fridge, iron and board and that's only a snippett of our gear!! Good job we have a large car, roof box and trailer!!!
OMG !! why don't you just stay in a hotel / B&B / holiday rental?!!
Ruddli, do you really take a microwave with you, or are you pulling our collective leg???
It must be like a military manoeuvre when you set up camp. Mind you, you sound like just the kind of organised person to get it all set up.
It may not be my cup of tea, I like to be able to get everything packed up, ready to move on in 30mins to an hour, but I wish you the best of luck.
Happy, erm, camping
Oh yes, nutgone, we really do take a microwave with us. Belive it or not, we soon have it all set up. Its the little luxuries that make my friends want to camp with us all the time!! People may think this is crazy, but I am crazy..........
We got a small vacume from poundstretchers its realy compact and only 700w. Got it so we can hover the carpet when packing up and to suck the air out of the vac bags also from poundstretchers 2 large bags and 3 small for only £9.99 and hover was only £19.99
Only problem now is i have to get a trailer to put all the camping gear in
But on the bright side when i get the trailer i can get a fridge to keep the lager cold
