had a idea for my trailer to place bike on the top,
so make a wooden lid for it ,and hinged it
then brought a builder trestle and bolted it on top ,
also got 4 rachet straps for the bike to be safely be place on ,,
very cheap to do and by looking at the pictures works 100%
hope you all like this idea ,and hope you all copy it ,,
cheaper than bying bike racks ,and car carryer for bike ,
it will easyly fit 6 bikes on it ,,now happy kids on camping trips
Hi Moose, on the front of your trailer you have 2 hooks, with foam on, what are they called?? i am looking for something like that for the front of my trailer as i have my twins little balance bikes (no pedals) and we are looking at mounting them as we currently 'lash' them on the front and i would like to make them more permanent.

Finally used the trailer! It was fantastic but leaked a little.....himself not best pleased after spending weeks welding/stripping the paint off/painting....

For those that have posted about size of trailer, we found an Erde 163 on Ebay 5' x 3' 9". The retail around £650 - £700 , however we bought ours for £230 ! It is very well built compared to the smaller 122 size trailers and tows very well at 60mph.
For those that mount things on the front back etc. perhaps you need to think about the " nose weight " when towing. Also the higher a small trailer gets the worse the centre of gravity will become...... I guess the folks that design these things know what happens if you get a bad cross wind against the high side of a small base area unit. I am very happy with the size of the 163 and so glad I did not settle for the smaller trailer. One of the nicest accessories for the trailer is the jockey wheel, just wind it down and the three wheeler is so manoeuvrable when un hitched. When loaded I can unhitch the fully loaded trailer and wheel it up the drive to the door to unload. Reversing with a trailer is a pain, so at th site I can unhitch and wheel it where I want without having to lift the laden weight. I know the Erde trailers are expensive but there are a good few advantages, firstly a full axle not just two short stubs, metal construction wont need constant care to avoid rotting..... good ply is expensive in large sheets. There is a full spares and accessory list available right down to being able to fit additional shock absorbers if things get hard.

Sarah, we also use a Sankey (the Wolf widetrack). Haven't done mine up yet due to lack of time, but we use a huge waterproof drybag in it, and all the sleeping stuff and clothes go in it. I also got a genuine military proofed canvas cover for it from "mattblack" (ebay) - fantastic it is. I've also got most of what I need to build a proper hardtop for it - gas struts, hinges and locks. Again, just need the time to do it.
Would like to see a proper pic of yours now it's done up.
