I can hardly lift the tent never mind about stuffing it anywhere but thanks for that. I will consider my options 
It has just occurred to me that even if I can get the tent on the back seat I will still need to put things on top and around it so that probably won't solve very much. Probably best to pile stuff into the front seats, load the tent into the boot then transfer the stuff from the front to the boot. My main concern in the rain of course is my electrical gear and bedding.
