I paid 99p on ebay for a campers cookbook, which arrived in pdf format (very useful when out in the field - not). It is very American and a lot of the recipes are geared around literally cooking with a campfire, but if anyone is interested I can make it available for download somewhere. How do you like your buffalo steak?
pan of hotpot tin of corned beef cut up an onion add a oxo cube tin of sliced carrots diced potatoes bring to boil and then simmer only need one pan tasty very tasty
If you have Electric Hook Up you could take a slow cooker. Prepare casserole, chillie in morning enjoy your day and it's ready at tea time. All you have to do is open a bottle of wine

I have been wondering about using a slow cooker, have you actualy used one whilst camping, because like you say would be an ideal thing, prepare in morning, go out for the day and then food is ready when you get back in evening.
Also prefer to take a small wok to a frying pan, Whatever you cook in a frying pan can be cooked in a wok, and also can do lots of stir-fries, which are really simple to cook.
How about Garlic Chicken, Sauteed new potatoes and Stir Fried Veg? Boil potatoes first and fry off with garlic and rosemary and put to one side. Gently pan fry the chicken with garlic until cooked through. Whilst chicken is cooking stir fry some mushrooms, onions, baby leeks, red peppers and anything else you fancy. Warm potatoes through before dishing up and you get a delicious healthy meal. (you might have guessed, we like garlic!). We've got a small grill under our double hob and this can be used to keep things warm.
I'll be trying some of the other recipe suggestions.
Add one can of meat, whatever takes your fancy, then add one can of veg, any sort, now add splash of red/white wine, garlic, salt and pepper, add to this some sort of liquid, be it type of sauce or stock cube. Bring to boil and simmer for 20/30 mins, then if you choose add pasta/rice or potatoes.
How does it taste, who cares because by the time its simmered and cooked I've polished off several glasses of wine/cans of beer, and I'm hungry and could eat anything...who cares what it tastes like..
how funny, my mum told me when we used to go camping when I was a kid she used the pressure cooker ALL the time. She used to do boiling bacon, pots and veg with yummy gravy! As has been said before no need to slum it just cos your camping!!
We are off tomorrow havn't booked, just trying pot luck (taking friends who are virgin campers awell) MAD OR WHAT still I'll just pour another glass of wine and it will all be fine
I try to take the quickest, easiest meals when we go camping lots of tinned stuff mainly... Hot dogs, tinned veg and potatoes, stewed steak, chicken supreme/curry etc.... a bit lazy i know but i'm on holiday too......
So many of the large supermarkets now sell ready cooked chickens or pork, that it's very easy to make a roast dinner. Also most will do a selection of Chinese or Indian take away type meals.
