We were looking at this for our summer hols.....is it any good?

Our kennels only charges £8 per dog to board ours. If we booked for a fortnight and they shared a kennel, I think it'd only be £12 per night for the pair. It comes to something when it's almost as cheap to kennel the dogs as it is to take them camping!
I would never go to a resort style camp, they look horrible stacked how they are. TBH, camping to me is the best family time and a holiday to me is getting away with the family and my husband and I love entertaining our children and exploring with them. They all love it. My children are 14 and 3 and we have new baby for this season.
You are paying these places to entertain your kids when you could so easily do it yourself, save a load of money and get closer to your kids.

I never would, of course, I'd miss them too much.
That's pretty good, we pay £16 a night ... it is a very good place though, in the middle of nowhere, he gets a 2 hr walk each day and the couple that run it know each regular dog personally. Even so, he doesn't stay for longer than a couple of nights!

I have booked a week in June at Wild Duck in Norfolk, it is a Haven site but is one of the quieter ones. We tend only to use the swimming pool at these places and occasionally the restaurant so the prices they charge in school holidays make no sense to us, but for our week in June it is only costing £85 including hook up. And it is easy to visit the OH's family from there.
I havent read the whole thread i'm afraid but i know the brochure you're on about it popped through our door about a fortnight ago, i looked with interest till i saw the prices! The resort style sites suit us with a 4 year old, especially if the weather isnt too great. Anyway, deciding against this company i started to look at other sites in Cornwall and pitches inc EHU were generally in the region of £35-40 at the end of August...so i decided to look at France and to cut a long story short we have booked 9 nights in France using Camping Cheques (approx £15 per night inc admin fee, daughter free on our chosen site) plus the ferry for considerably less than the 7 nights in Cornwall would have cost. Ok there will be a difference in the cost of fuel but this will be minimal as we are a good 6 hours drive from Cornwall and our total driving time to Normandy should be no more than 9 hours + the ferry time. I figure the difference in the per night cost will cover the extra fuel, and added to that even if the £/Euro stays low we are only likely to eat and drink at the same sort of amounts (possibly even less) than we would in Cornwall....

If you are booking, they currently have a problem so you would be better off phoning as the credit card system is interupted. If you book on line the booking goes through but the card gets stuck.

Site we are off to in Wales is £5 pppn over 16 and 5-16yrs £4pppn so 7 nights would be £126 and views of Snowdon to boot!
We are not now going to that site but to another one in Wales - as you can see by my sig we are off to Jakers site at £111 for 6 nights with ehu and loads of facililties (not entertainment etc). A mile from the beach and very friendly owners.
2008 prices held for 2009 AND no paying extra for anything except the sauna when you get there.
Hubby had a week off work in August last year but i was working but manged to get the time off so we decided to go away. All the caravan and camping sites were fully booked as usual so i started with the cheaper sites and worked up to the more expensive and finally got a week at Shamba which has a swimming pool and bar where you can eat or takeaway. I think it was about £40 a night with ehu, which i would not usually be prepared to pay but we had no choice if we wanted to go away. Considering that to stay in a static or cottage or holiday camp would have cost loads it still saved us money. This year we are going to Blair Castle for 2 weeks for £301 on an extra large serviced pitch including 2 dogs and ehu. It would be cheaper but i asked for this pitch not realising it was a super pitch lol. It doesn't have a swimming pool but a lovely stream right next to it that the kids love. I'm hoping to get the kids to come on some day trips this year as usually they are off playing all day which does mean that we all have a fantastic time lol
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
