I have returnet to camping after a rather long break and things have moved on considerably. After some research I chose a Minnesota 4 for our family of four.
It went up without a problem (20 minuites), although I was concerned to see two poles were showing sioghn of rust.
I put it up to test it this wet bankholiday weekend, after 24 hours I was most upset to find that it leaks. The problem appears to be local to one panel of fabric, and it simply lets water in. When the wind 'flicked' the cloth I got a light shower inside. There were a number of pools of water on the groundsheet.
I will be returning it (hopefully) but was wondering if I should get it replaced or go for another better tent?
if you are happy with the tent in general , get it replaced , any try again . as for the poles i had to return 4 sets of poles covered in rust and damaged for my vermont till i was happy
Sorry to hear about your troubles with the Minnesota 4. Don't know if we just have been fortunate but just back from a couple of nights away in our Minnesota 4 and we did not have any problems with leaking or rust(so far).Had an initial five nights at the start of the month and it withstood some heavy wind and rain.Hope you get it sorted out,it does sound like it should be returned.
We got our tent from Midwaest Camping, looking at the internet it appears that they are a part of Yeomans, if indeed you had trouble (Nick and Sally) I will go for a refund and look elsewhere. This is bad news for us as we have a camp booked for this weekend comming.
I have aranged to get the tent replaced (It took five towells to mop up the inside). Midwest Camping (Yeomans) were a touch unforgiving in my plight by appear to be softening up.
Will from Yeomans HQ also contacted me to assure that they will sort things out no matter what (good customer care).
I will give the replacement a try out next weekend so its fingers crossed.
Hi nickandsally
Can you help please we have just got a Outwell Vermont L. Having just come back from a shortened break!! where we had strong winds and 2 days of continuos rain, the tent leaked from main seams and around some windows this was the first outing for tent. Do we take back to retailer or seal the many leaks?
Under the provisions of the sales of goods and services regulations the retailer is obliged to do something. You may Require a full refund or replacement if the goods are not of servicable quality.
